Diazepam is a long-acting benzodiazepine used for anxiety disorders, acute alcohol withdrawal, skeletal muscle spasm and as an adjunct in certain seizure disorders.

Take exactly as directed. Because it is long-acting, sedation can carry into the next day. Do not drive until you know how it affects you.

Common: drowsiness, muscle weakness, unsteadiness, fatigue. Report confusion or paradoxical agitation.

Do not combine with opioids or alcohol. Dependence can develop within weeks. Taper under supervision — abrupt discontinuation risks seizures.
