Alprazolam is a short-acting benzodiazepine prescribed for generalised anxiety disorder and panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia.

Take at the times your prescriber set. Do not increase the dose on your own. Never stop suddenly after regular use — withdrawal can include seizures.

Common: drowsiness, fatigue, impaired coordination, memory problems. Report worsening mood or suicidal thoughts immediately.

Combining with opioids can cause profound sedation and death. Tolerance and dependence develop with continued use. Avoid alcohol.
